Is EMDR right for me?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy is an evidence-based approach that helps individuals process and heal from past traumas, flashbacks, and PTSD symptoms.
EMDR is a therapy that focuses on healing both the mind and body. It uses bilateral stimulation (like eye movements or tapping) to help the brain reprocess traumatic memories and integrate them into more adaptive beliefs, resolving distressing symptoms. As an EMDR trained therapist, I will guide you in identifying and targeting disturbing memories or thoughts.
Using bilateral stimulation, I will help you safely access and reprocess these memories, releasing their hold on your mind and body. EMDR addresses “stuck” traumatic memories that cause symptoms like flashbacks, anxiety, and emotional sensitivity. The goal is to reduce distress and incorporate these memories into your life story. Though EMDR has multiple phases, it is proven effective for trauma and PTSD.
